This error number 0x800A01AD means "ActiveX component can't create object". That is, there is some issue related to Windows Update ActiveX control.

This issue is connected with an unregistered dll, surely Wuaueng.dll. To register it, Start, Run and type in (without the quotes), “regsvr32 Wuaueng.dll”.

Inicio > Ejecutar y escribir estas líneas pulsando la tecla ENTER al final de cada una:

regsvr32 MSXML.DLL
regsvr32 MSXML2.DLL
regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL

Reiniciar Windows y acudir otra vez a Windows Update.
