This 0x800C0002 means "Inet E Invalid URL". That is, some URL related to Windows Update is invalid.

Start > Run and type regedit. Browse to the key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\IUControl]

and click on it. If there is a value called identserver on the left hand panel, delete it.

Restart Windows and go to Windows Update.
