This 0x8024001D means " WU E INVALID UPDATE". That is, some update has non valid metadata.
1) Start > Run and type this lines. Hit ENTER key after each one:
net stop wuauserv
regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll net start wuauserv Reboot Windows and go to Windows Update.
2) If this suggestion does not help, Start > Run and write net stop wuauserv
Locate in your hard disk "SoftwareDistribution" folder and delete its content Then Start > Run and type net start wuauserv Restart Windows and go to Windows Update.
FOOTNOTE: the dll files of the first suggestion can be registered in an automatic way by downloading and clicking twice on this file.
