La rama responsable en el registro de controlar la asociación con el visor de imagenes es:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileA­ssociations\image\ShellEx\Cont­extMenuHandlers\ShellImagePrev­iew]

En el panel de la derecha veremos un valor llamado "(predeterminado)" hacer doble click sobre el mismo y asignarle el valor CLSID (con llaves incluidas)

Con esto recuperemos el visor de imagenes por defecto de winxp
