This error means, ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT
Windows Update file corruption.
Delete the file pending.xml under \windows\winsxs and Reinstall the Windows Update Agent
A new version of the Windows Update Agent is available
Also take a look to this kb article
The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows Vista, or you receive an error message that includes the following code when you try to use Windows Update: "0x80073712"
