Systray missing (WinXP)

Navigate to the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

In the right pane look for a value named "NoTrayItemsDisplay". If so, remove it or set it the value "0”.
