Power Point 2007 and compression pictures
In Power Point 2007 we have a new default setting calls "Automatically perform basic compression on save".This setting tries to avoid that pictures increase the file size dramatically. We can disable this setting, only for current presentation, by two ways. Under Picture Tools / Format tab (that show automatically when we work with a picture) click Compress Picture. Power Point shows a dialog box with a option to apply this setting only selected image or all pictures in the document. Click in Options show other dialog box with Compression Options and uncheck "Automatically perform basic compression on save". Othe way to disable this setting, for the current document only, is: click in Save As, and click in Tools button. Last option in the menu it reffers to compression options.
If we disable "Automatically perform basic compression on save" for all documents in Power point we have to edit the registry.
- 1-Close Power Point
- 2-Open registry editor (Start / Run and we write Regedit)
- 3-Go to key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\Options]
- 4-Create a new Dwor Value with name AutomaticPictureCompressionDefault
- 5-Close registry editor
Now, by default, Power Point doesn't compress pictures. If we want enable this option, only we go to this key and change value to 1.
In Our section of downloads there are a reg file with disable this setting.
